The D Cafe Coffee Cat Story
In the beginning
There has been a cafe in the Dixons Shopping Centre since it was opened in the early 1980s. In 2006 the current owner decided to retire after 30 years in service, and that's when I stepped in.
After an intensive refurbishment the cafe was reopened as D Cafe in March 2006. With white walls and primary coloured bricks we were a colourful addition to the Hellesdon community.
As the business grew over the years we took on additional staff and increased our range of homemade cakes and bakes, celebrating Halloween, Easter and Christmas with special seasonal offerings.
But change was needed, in 2010 the cafe was repainted purple and with the addition of bunting, given a more cosy feel.
The most Recent Rebrand
In the last year the cafe has had its current transformation, with a change of name to D Cafe Coffee Cat. This incorpates not only our love of Coffee but that of cats too. this has helped to freshen up the overall image of the cafe.
New tables and chairs along with new sugar and sauce bowls incorporating the cat theme have helped to give a whimsical and contemporary feel.
We have however stopped short of wearing cat ears over our bandanas. But Halloween may change that.
Outside dining is available during the summer months, giving the cafe 4 additional seats. Make your choice off our menu then place and pay for it at the till then relax and we will bring it out for you.
Friendly dogs are welcome at our outside tables, but unfortunately only guide dogs are allowed in the cafe itself due to our open plan layout.
